Our Team

Sports Nutrition

Sports nutrition aims to help individuals prepare and recover from athletic training and sports activities by providing nutrition guidance to maintain healthy physical conditions. OSU Sports Nutrition offers group presentations as well as one on one consultation to help you improve your health and performance.


Jackie Buell, PhD, RD, CSSD, ATC

Dr. Buell is a sports dietitian for OSU Sports Medicine and consultant to the OSU Department of Athletics. She is a registered and licensed dietitian. Dr Buell received a Bachelor of Science from Marietta College (OH) in Sports Medicine and a Masters degree in Exercise Science from the University of Arizona. Her nutrition training includes a PhD in Nutrition from Ohio State University with an internship through Bowling Green State University. Jackie still maintains her athletic training license along with the dietetics license.


Sarah Wick, RD, CSSD

Sarah is the lead dietitian for the Sports Nutrition team, providing individual and team counseling for Olympic and Varsity sports while serving as a leader and mentor to students in the sports nutrition field.  Her passion and focus is sports nutrition and weight management. Her experience in sports nutrition and fitness spans from amateur to collegiate to professionals in the PGA, NHL and NBA.  Sara is board certified is Sports Dietetics and certified as an Exercise Specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine and a Weight Management Trainer by the American Dietetic Association. Sarah is a member of the American Dietetic Association and its Sports and Cardiovascular Nutrition Practice as well as a Veteran Professional member of the Collegiate and Professional Sports Dietetic Association.


Lauren Blake, RD, LDN, CHWC

Lauren is a Licensed and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Certified Health & Wellness Coach. She has a background in food science and medical nutrition therapy with a special interest in preventative and personalized nutrition. Lauren most enjoys working with people in behavioral change weight management programs and is very passionate about the philosophy of health, wellness, and the power of nutrient-dense foods. She also loves teaching community nutrition education classes and leading healthy cooking demonstrations.


Nicole Jontony, RD

As a four year competitor and two-time captain of the women's gymnastics team, Nicole realized personally how nutrition affects performance and made it her goal to pursue credentials as a Registered Dietitian in order to share this with others. It is her passion to provide this competitive edge with other athletes, especially at the collegiate level. Nicole coached for Upper Arlington High School gymnastics while attending The Ohio State University and now teaches classes at Pure Barre.


Sean McMickle, RD

Sean is a sports registered dietitian for Ohio State Sports Medicine and Ohio State Athletics. He completed his undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University and completed his professional internship at Hines VA Hospital near Chicago, Illinois. Sean holds a certified personal training license through the American College of Sports Medicine, and during his time at Ohio State worked as a personal trainer for the Ohio State Recreation and Physical Activity Center.
