Experience & Interests

Dr. Raymond Pongonis has been a team physician for the Ohio State Buckeyes since 1995. Dr. Pongonis works with the football and baseball teams, and in 2009 became a physician for the Columbus Clippers, the Triple A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians.

A native of Columbus, Dr. Pongonis is a graduate of The Ohio State University and completed his medical studies at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he also completed a fellowship in manipulative therapy. In 2007 he became a Certified Medical Review Officer for the Ohio State Athletic Department’s medical drug testing program.

Dr. Pongonis is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American Osteopathic Association and the American Academy of Family Practice.

He has also served as a team physician for his alma mater, Bishop Watterson High School in Columbus and in 2006 was honored with the Gregory I. Brooks Memorial Award from the Columbus Medical Association.
