Primary Care Sports Medicine |
Dr. Gubanich is board certified in internal medicine with a certificate of added qualification in Sports Medicine. He completed his residency and fellowship training at the Cleveland Clinic where he worked in the Department of Orthopaedics from 2005-2011.
Dr. Gubanich’s clinical interests include the management and prevention of sports concussion, treatment of musculoskeletal and medical problems in athletes, and performance optimization. He has treated athletes at all levels of competition including serving on the medical staff of the Cleveland Browns (2004-10, Medical Director 2010), Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Barons, Cleveland Fusion, and as a consultant to other various local and professional athletic organizations.
Dr. Gubanich earned his Masters Degree in Public Health from Case Western Reserve University in 2007. He is the developer of the Healthy Futures Childhood Wellness initiative, targeting adverse health behavior in youth and has been awarded funding for the program from the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine (2010), and the McCormick Foundation (2009), among others. Additional research interests include clinical outcomes and injury prevention.
Among other state and local organizations, Dr. Gubanich is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Society of Sports Medicine, and the NFL Team Physicians’ Association.
