Thomas Best, MD, PhD, co-medical director of OSU Sports Medicine Center and Professor / Pomerene Chair in Family Medicine, has been awarded a 4-year NIH grant for $1.5 million dollars to explore eccentric muscle massage. Titled “Massage Therapy in Eccentric Exercise Induced Muscle Weakness”, the object of this study is to understand the efficacy of massage therapy in the recovery of weakness following intense eccentric exercise. The study runs until April 2013.
