Sports medicine; electromyography; amputee rehabilitation.

Research Interests:

Electrodiagnosis; in particular, sports-related nerve injuries, as well as radiculopathy and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Notes:

A graduate of  the University of Michigan, Dr Bowyer attended medical school at The Ohio State University. He completed his internship at Riverside Hospital in Columbus and residency in physical medicine at OSU. He has been on the medical staff at OSU since 1987 and joined The OSU Sports Medicine Center when it opened in 1991.

Dr Bowyer is the Medical Advisor for Creative Living, Inc., an adapted housing facility for physically disabled individuals and is the Clinical Director of The OSU Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Prosthetics & Orthotics. He has been a contributor to “The Clinic," section of the American Running Association's monthly newsletter since 1990.

Dr Bowyer is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He is a member of Association of Academic Physiatrists, American College of Sports Medicine, the American Medical Association and the Ohio State Medical Association.
