Your diet and the type of food you consume can affect your athletic performance either positively or negatively. The diet of an athlete or someone who exercises regularly needs to be different from the diet of someone who is inactive or sedentary to keep energy levels up and make your work outs most effective.

Of course not all diets are the same. The type of diet you follow will depend on your age, sex, and activity level. A diet with adequate calories, vitamins, minerals and protein will provide you with the energy needed to finish a race or score the winning goal, whereas a poor diet will negatively affect your performance – making you feel sluggish or fatigued – no matter the intensity.
